Black Clay Art comes from the heart of Portugal and truly represents an unique local art. 

Its cooking pots are essential for the "Chanfana" a dish made famous in Vila Nova de Poiares and that can also be found in the surrounding areas. The dish "Chanfana" consists of 12 special ingredients (one being the black pot itself) and the secret recipe has been passed on from generation to generation. The main ingredients are goatsmeat and red wine.

There are many examples of black clay used in the kitchen and the chetsnut roaster used on an open fire can still be found in many households.
